More singles are connecting through use of social-networking tools such as Twitter and Facebook. It has been questioned whether or not these services are playing a competitive role alongside the very active dating companies.

For singles, social media has provided a source of community that offers interaction from the comfort of any chosen location.  Today, most social sites offer mobile applications that allow members to receive alerts and continue the dialogue no matter where they are.

In some cases, these tools are helping them increase visibility. The growing list of available social communities offer today’s singles an opportunity to build connections with a much broader scope of people.
